Passion and Innovation Drive the #1 Community College in the Nation
Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) has eight campus locations that covers six thousand square miles in Northeast Louisiana. The college is one of twelve comprehensive community colleges that make up the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) which had more than 35,000 completers to add to Louisiana’s workforce in 2023.
LDCC offers nearly forty programs and is adding more to meet the needs of the region. The goal is to have something for everyone and have completers who are ready to fill the critical workforce shortages in the region. LDCC teaches using traditional materials and equipment alongside modern and futuristic equipment. A few examples include LDCC’s simulated hospital in Bastrop where allied health students work on mannequins that speak, give birth and have vital signs. Students are also able to see inside the human body, hold organs, trace nerves and experience endless scenarios with virtual and augmented reality. Automotive mechanic students work with an alignment machine, diagnostic equipment and one of the only all-wheel Dynojet in the region. It is the most advanced shop in any classroom in the state.
LDCC recently saw the first cohort of Teacher Apprentices graduate in December 2024. The students will transition to the University of Louisiana Monroe where they will complete a bachelor’s degree and certification. They will complete the program from start to finish in 3 years. Simultaneously. LDCC developed and launched a new Medical Lab Technician program. Students work with the same lab instruments as they would in hospitals and other medical labs in a real-world setting. Additionally, the medical lab at LDCC allows students to train on the only Abbott Alinity machine available to college students in a purely academic environment in the United States. The Alinity PCR machine tests for anything with DNA such as HIV, Covid, Flu etc.
Students needing to acquire their high school equivalency, can also find help at LDCC. The institution boasts a full service adult education department that prepares students for state testing. It also offers other services such as college preparatory classes, workforce programs, and English as a second language (ESL) classes.
From Barbering to Truck Driving, Manufacturing to Teaching and Math to Mechanics, LDCC is THE premier workforce training institution in the region. Students who need to further their education at one of LDCC’s university partners will find transferring their LDCC credits is an easy process since LDCC is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
