In October 2024, Ochsner LSU Health celebrated its sixth anniversary. An innovative partnership between Ochsner Health and LSU Health Shreveport, the Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana is an integrated academic health system that provides top-quality care in its hospitals and clinics and serves as a training ground for future healthcare professionals. In 2023, the Louisiana Emergency Response Network (LERN) designated Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center as northeast Louisiana’s first Level III Trauma Center. Working seamlessly with the Level I Trauma Center in Shreveport, the Monroe Medical Center team leads trauma and critical care for the entire region. Additionally, as the area’s only Primary Stroke Center the hospital meets and exceeds rigorous national criteria and commitment to resources and a higher standard of clinical practice.

- The Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center was recognized in 2024 with the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.
- In April 2022, Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center became certified by The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark to become a Primary Stroke Center.
- In 2021, Monroe Medical Center received the Birth Ready designation from the Louisiana Department of Health, the first hospital in northeast Louisiana to earn the designation.

In 2025 Monroe Medical Center will complete the renovation and expansion of its Emergency Department, doubling the capacity to provide critical care to patients.
