It is a BEAUTIFUL Day to be in Monroe, Louisiana. With Labor Day behind us our focus in on Back to School and the fall season. Please let us know how we can help your business. As always, we encourage everyone to shop local.
A couple of dates to note. Today at noon at Miro’s our Ambassadors meet. Lamont Windom will be speaking. Tomorrow is the September session for our Leadership Ouachita class. Thanks to Mickey McCarty and Neville High School for hosting us. ULM has their season home opener this Saturday at Malone Stadium. There is no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than on the most beautiful campus in the world watching our Warhawks. Also, make sure you are wearing Maroon or Gold each game day Friday. Saturday’s game is a “White Out”. Next Tuesday the 13th our Young Professionals will be at Flying Tiger for lunch. A great time and a great speaker. Dr. John Sutherlin, ULM, will be speaking on Regulations and Reefer – The Politics of Marijuana. Everyone is welcome. September 16th is The Monroe Chamber’s Annual Golf Tournament at Frenchman’s Bend. This is some kind of fun – if you would like more information contact Daphne Garrett here at the Chamber office. Mark your Calendars as well for September 21st as The Monroe Chamber, The West Monroe / West Ouachita Chamber, Goodwill, KTVE, Stephens Media, The Radio People and The United Way of Northeast Louisiana are hosting the largest Career Expo we have seen in a long time. The event will be at the Monroe Civic Center starting at 10:00. There is still time to get a booth. Contact Adam Alexander @318-816-3450 or adam@nelaworks.org. On September 27th a group of us are going to visit Walker High School in Baton Rouge. We are still trying to secure dates for the Governor and Congresswoman Letlow. Save October 27th on your calendar. Our Technology team is planning a great Cyber Security Summit. This will be a very important event for any size business. November we celebrate Teachers of the YEAR and our Leadership Class will graduate. December 1st is our GALA. I promise a grand night that tops last year. If you would like more information, please contact Terri Arthur here at the chamber office. Be watching for more information on a Southside Merchant meeting coming in October.
