The Thomas H. Scott Award of Excellence recognizes companies and leaders that demonstrate a strong commitment to Ouachita Parish through job creation, capital investments in machinery, equipment, or facilities, and active participation in meaningful community projects—both corporately and through the efforts of management and employees.
A distinguished panel of judges, composed of engaged citizens and community leaders, will select winners in each of the following categories:
Small (1-10 employees)
Medium (11-50 employees)
Large (51-100 employees)
Corporate (Over 100 employees)
Non-Profit Organization
Business Woman of the Year

To be eligible, a company must be located in Ouachita Parish.
Winners and finalists will be announced and honored at the Thomas H. Scott Awards of Excellence Reception on Thursday, May 15th, at the Monroe Civic Center, B.D. Robinson Conference Hall.
ELIGIBILITY
T.H. Scott Award of Excellence: Company Categories
To be eligible, a company must have initiated or made progress on an expansion in employment, capital investment, or facilities during the 2024–2025 calendar year. Additionally, the company must demonstrate involvement in enhancing the Ouachita Parish community. This engagement may take the form of employee initiatives, management leadership, corporate involvement, or community service.
T.H. Scott Award of Excellence: Business Woman of the Year
This award honors a woman who is making significant strides in the business world. It recognizes a leader who exemplifies innovation, excellence, and a commitment to community involvement while actively shaping the future of business in Ouachita Parish.
T.H. Scott Award of Excellence: Ouachita Parish Woman of Excellence Award
This award celebrates a distinguished woman in Ouachita Parish who has built a lasting legacy through her leadership, service, and dedication to community advancement. It recognizes individuals who have paved the way for others and made an enduring impact on Northeast Louisiana.
NOMINATION PROCEDURES
- The nomination form must be completed in full and legibly.
- Companies may submit multiple nominations, including self-nominations.
- Incomplete nomination forms will not be considered.
- Judges may request additional information from nominees or nominators.
- All decisions made by the judging panel are final.
- Nomination forms and any supplementary materials become the property of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.

SELECTION CRITERIA – JUDGING BASED ON SPECIFIC CRITERIA LISTED BELOW:
10 points – Job Creation/Retention of Existing Jobs – The nominee created permanent new jobs in
Ouachita Parish and/or Prevented loss of existing jobs.
10 points – Capital Investment/Facility Expansion – The nominee either expanded its present
facility or built a new facility or the nominee purchased machinery/equipment and made capital
investments demonstrating a desire and commitment to continue to operate in Ouachita Parish and
keep any jobs created during the expansion.
10 points – Community Involvement/Impact – The company has been a good corporate citizen of the
community through corporate donations, sponsorships of events, scholarships, etc. In addition, the
company supports and encourages employee involvement with volunteer organizations and the owners
and key managers support volunteer organizations with their time, talent or through financial
support.

The awards are administered by a volunteer committee from the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, The Leaders of Change, and Bayou Life Magazine. To be considered for the Thomas H. Completed nominations must be in the Monroe Chamber Office by 5 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025. Complete nomination forms provide information we need to introduce your business.
