TH Scott Award Nomination Form

The Thomas H. Scott Award of Excellence is presented to companies who have demonstrated a
commitment to Ouachita Parish by creating jobs, making capital investment in machinery, equipment
or building and participated in worthwhile community projects, both corporately and by management
and employees.

An award panel of distinguished judges made up of involved citizens and community leaders will
choose 5 winners, one in each of four categories. The categories are:

Small (1-10 employees)     

Medium (11-50 employees)

Large (51-100 employees)

Corporate (Over 100 employees)

Non-Profit Organization

To be eligible, a company must be located in Ouachita Parish. Winners and finalists will be
announced and honored during the Thomas H. Scott Awards of Excellence Reception on Thursday, May
23rd to be held at Bayou Pointe on the campus of the University of Louisiana Monroe.

ELIGIBILITY

A company must have an expansion in employment, capital investment, or facilities started or in
progress in calendar year 2023/24. The company must have some level of involvement in making
Ouachita Parish a better community. This involvement may be through employee efforts, management,
or corporate involvement.

NOMINATION PROCEDURES

The nomination form should be filled out completely and legibly. Any company may nominate more than
one candidate or nominate themselves. Incomplete nomination forms will not be considered.

The judges may request additional information from nominees or nominators. The decision of the
judges is final. The nomination forms and supplementary information become the property of the
Monroe Chamber of
Commerce.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA – JUDGING BASED ON SPECIFIC CRITERIA LISTED BELOW:

10 points – Job Creation/Retention of Existing Jobs – The nominee created permanent new jobs in
Ouachita Parish and/or Prevented loss of existing jobs.

10 points – Capital Investment/Facility Expansion – The nominee either expanded its present
facility or built a new facility or the nominee purchased machinery/equipment and made capital
investments demonstrating a desire and commitment to continue to operate in Ouachita Parish and
keep any jobs created during the expansion.

10 points – Community Involvement/Impact – The company has been a good corporate citizen of the
community through corporate donations, sponsorships of events, scholarships, etc. In addition, the
company supports and encourages employee involvement with volunteer organizations and the owners
and key managers support volunteer organizations with their time, talent or through financial
support.

The awards are administered by a volunteer committee from the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, the ULM College of Business & Social Sciences, and BayouLife Magazine.

Completed nominations must be in the Monroe Chamber Office by 5 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2024. Complete nomination forms provide the information we need to introduce your business. Incomplete nomination forms will not be considered.

  1. Business opened, relocated, expanded, or had expansion in progress during 2023 or 2024
  2. Growth factors that will be considered: capital investment, building, or job creation/retention
  3. Community involvement
